The Shelter Tas Workforce Development Program has identified Trauma Informed Practice for workers in the housing and homelessness sector as a priority area of training. As requested by services we are offering a follow up to the previous face to face training in our Trauma-Informed Practice series, How to Have the Hard Conversations Part 1. This will provide more time for practical discussion and case studies.
This full day session is suitable for previous attendees and all other housing and homelessness workers. Attendance of Part 1 is not essential to reap the full benefits of attending this training.
All housing and homelessness sector workers can benefit from the skills for Having the Hard Conversations, which may involve peers, managers and clients. Continuing the Trauma-Informed approach, this session focuses on practical skills development and dives into implementation strategies in the workplace. This includes an examination of the importance of workplace culture to support trauma-informed practice and strategies for influencing culture.
The training encompasses theory, group discussions, personal reflection, practical skills and resources. It is suitable for housing and homelessness professionals, frontline staff, leaders and managers. There is a focus on building worker agency and the skills required to turn difficult conversations into constructive ones.
