Shelter Tas, as the peak body for housing and homelessness, welcomes the release of the House of Assembly Select Committee’s Report into Housing Affordability in Tasmania.
This report is very timely, as Tasmania’s housing system has changed dramatically over recent years. The chronic shortage of affordable rentals is pushing a growing number of Tasmanians into housing stress and homelessness. With over 60 recommendations, this report highlights many opportunities to address Tasmania’s housing crisis. Shelter Tas welcomes the report’s recommendation of an increase in the supply of affordable housing, and for improving the supports and services for people experiencing homelessness. Read more…
