The latest RAI shows a worrying trend of increasing rental stress across Tasmania (households on the lowest 40% of incomes pay 30% or more of their income in rent). The Index shows that rental affordability has continued to rapidly decline and rise up the income ladder in Tasmania over the last year. Greater Hobart is still the least affordable capital city in Australia and regional Tasmania also now the least affordable in regional Australia.
