Rental Affordability Index – May 2018

The latest Rental Affordability Index shows that rental affordability in Hobart has fallen to its lowest level since the Index began in 2015, with the trend spreading across the State. The upward trend shown by the Index reinforces the need for better long range planning for our State’s housing needs and increasing the supply of public and community housing.

The RAI reveals the reality of renting across Tasmania by monitoring the proportion of income spent on rent and is sponsored by National Shelter, Community Sector Banking, the Brotherhood of St Laurence and SGS Economics and Planning.
