The Wall of Gratitude is a montage of unsent handwritten letters from housing and homelessness support workers across the sector.
CatholicCare Tasmania invited people working directly in the field of housing and homelessness to participate in a ‘letter writing’ activity. The activity was designed as a ‘reflective’ exercise, providing an opportunity to deeply consider the value of the work they do.
This installation is comprised of parts of letters that were written from the hearts and minds of individuals working in the sector. When asked to put pen to paper they were asked to acknowledge their gratitude for the experience of working alongside one or more of the individuals or families that had been experiencing homelessness.
The idea of handwritten letters shared openly is to reflect the experience of vulnerability and at times difficulty that those experiencing homelessness often face in sharing their own thoughts and feelings with us.
On display at CatholicCare (35 Tower Rd, New Town) and Wintringham (66 Alexandra Esplanade, Bellerive) reception spaces for all of Homelessness Week!
